The Technique
Eight trigrams, stacked into sixty-four hexagrams.
The Yi Jing (易经) is built, not assembled from aphorisms: eight trigrams of three lines each, stacked in pairs into the sixty-four hexagrams, each read through its judgment, its line statements and the Ten Wings. This course teaches that structure from the first line, and only then teaches how a question is put to it.
- The Eight Trigrams (八卦) built line by line, and the attributes each one carries.
- The Early Heaven and Later Heaven arrangements, and what the difference means in a reading.
- From trigrams to hexagrams: the six lines (爻), the changing lines, and the judgment and line statements a reading is built from.
- Both casting methods, the yarrow stalk (蓍草) and the three coins (三钱), and the six-step reading that follows.
Why Learn It
The Yi Jing is not a fortune-telling app.
The Yi Jing (易经, "Book of Changes") is the oldest classical text in the Chinese intellectual canon — older than Confucius, older than the Dao De Jing, older than virtually every system of Chinese metaphysics built on top of it. It is simultaneously a manual for divination and a work of philosophical reflection on the nature of change itself.
The Book of Changes
Compiled across three thousand years from Fu Xi's original trigrams through King Wen and the Duke of Zhou, then refined in the Ten Wings — the source text every other classical Chinese system borrows from.
The 64 hexagrams
Eight trigrams stacked in pairs make sixty-four hexagrams, each a configuration of change, read line by line — and rarely static: moving lines transform it into a second hexagram, giving every reading a before and an after.
Divination and wisdom
Consulted for specific questions through the yarrow stalk or three-coin method — but it is not a Magic 8-Ball. Ask, read, reflect, and act; the answer is the beginning of the conversation with the situation.
Foundation of Chinese metaphysics
BaZi, Zi Wei Dou Shu, Qi Men Dun Jia and classical Feng Shui all inherit their symbolic engine — the Eight Trigrams and the Five Elements — from the Yi Jing.
The Ten Wings
The classical canon Confucius's school refined, taught as the tradition reads it rather than as a mid-century English paraphrase.
Taught honestly
Yin-Yang before trigrams, trigrams before hexagrams, hexagrams before line statements, line statements before divination — never "throw three coins and look up an aphorism".

Classical foundations. Modern rigour.
I have spent over a decade dismantling the barrier between "ancient wisdom" and "modern logic." Since 2014, I have practiced Chinese metaphysics professionally, building a reputation for technical precision in BaZi (八字), Zi Wei Dou Shu (紫微斗数), Qi Men Dun Jia (奇门遁甲), and classical Feng Shui — read for clients across Asia, North America, and Europe.
This masterclass exists because the Yi Jing is the source text every other Chinese metaphysics system inherits from — and the most misrepresented in the West. Most "I Ching" content online is a single mid-century English paraphrase, a coin toss, and a paragraph of lifestyle advice. Almost none of it teaches the trigrams. Almost none teaches the Ten Wings. This course teaches the classical structure the way Chinese practitioners have taught it for two thousand years.
By the end of this course, you will not only understand the Yi Jing — you will be able to formulate a question, generate a hexagram, run the six-step reading method, and integrate the result with BaZi and Feng Shui where appropriate.
- Professional metaphysics practice since 2014
- Specialist in classical Chinese systems — BaZi, Zi Wei, QMDJ, Feng Shui, Yi Jing
- Featured expert in regional and international media outlets
- Active consulting practice — life direction, timing, and decision-making readings
- 10,000+professional readings
- 15years of practice

What is the Yi Jing, exactly?
The Yi Jing (易经, "Book of Changes") is the oldest classical text in the Chinese intellectual canon, traditionally attributed to a chain of authors across roughly three thousand years — Fu Xi for the original eight trigrams, King Wen and the Duke of Zhou for the hexagram and line statements, and Confucius's school for the Ten Wings commentaries (十翼). Structurally it is a system of sixty-four hexagrams (六十四卦) — six-line figures built from the eight trigrams (八卦) — each describing a configuration of change. Functionally it is consulted both as a divination tool (through the yarrow stalk or three-coin method) and as a wisdom text in its own right. Every other classical Chinese metaphysics system — BaZi, Feng Shui, Qi Men Dun Jia, Zi Wei Dou Shu — borrows its symbolic engine from the Yi Jing.
Do I need any prior knowledge?
No. The course is built from first principles. It starts with what Yin and Yang actually are, what the Tai Ji means, and how polarity generates complexity — before you ever encounter a trigram. If you have studied BaZi or Feng Shui, you will recognize the underlying engines (Yin-Yang, Five Elements, Eight Trigrams) and move faster, but no prerequisite is required.
How is this different from reading the Wilhelm/Baynes book?
The Wilhelm-Baynes translation is a respectable mid-20th-century English rendering of the text — but reading a translation is not the same as learning the system. This course teaches the structural engine the text describes: the trigrams, how hexagrams are built from them, what changing lines actually mean, how the Tuan and Xiang treatises function, what the Ten Wings add to a reading, and how to formulate a question that the Yi Jing can answer. You can read Wilhelm cover to cover and still not be able to do an actual reading; the goal of this course is the reading method itself.
Yarrow stalks or three coins?
Both. The course teaches both methods and discusses their differences. The yarrow stalk method is the original — slower, more contemplative, and produces a different statistical distribution of moving lines (which classical practitioners argue carries more nuance). The three-coin method is the modern shortcut, faster, and statistically simplified. Most contemporary practitioners use coins for everyday questions and reserve yarrow for matters of unusual weight. The course teaches both because both are part of the tradition.
How long is the course and what's the time commitment?
The course runs a full classical foundation, with twelve real case studies and a full six-step reading walkthrough. A focused student can complete the material in two to three months; a careful student in four to six. There is no deadline, and as with every metaphysics discipline, real fluency comes from doing actual readings — the course teaches the framework that makes that practice productive.
What can I actually do after this course?
Five concrete capabilities. (1) Read the trigrams and the structure of any hexagram — judgment, line statements, nuclear hexagram, and the relationship between original and transformed. (2) Use both the yarrow stalk and three-coin methods, and choose between them appropriately. (3) Run the six-step reading method on any question and produce a structured written response. (4) Apply the Yi Jing to specific life domains — career, relationships, timing, ethics, health, finances. (5) Structure a professional consultation, including integration with BaZi and Feng Shui.
