The Year

2027 is 丁未: Fire over Earth.

The BaZi year follows neither the Western calendar nor the lunar one. It follows the sun: 丁未 begins at 立春, on 4 February 2027 at 09:46 Beijing time, and ends at the next 立春, on 4 February 2028. Your 丁未 year therefore includes January 2028 — and does not include January 2027, whatever the calendar on your wall says.

  • 丁 is the lamp and the forge flame. 2026 was a bonfire; 2027 is embers in a hearth, still hot enough to cook on.
  • 未 is summer's Earth — warm, dry, still holding the heat — with 己, 丁 and 乙 hidden inside it, and the Wood storehouse in its keeping.
  • The Ten God the year's stem is to your Day Master is the year's headline theme — a tendency, never a fixed event.

The Problem

A forecast for your animal is not your year.

Millions will read a one-paragraph forecast for their zodiac animal. That is not how the year works. The year's branch meets every chart differently, and 未 meets anyone who carries 未 anywhere in their eight characters — not only those born under the Goat. A year is a chart reading, or it is a horoscope column.

  • The year starts on the wrong day

1 January is arbitrary, and Chinese New Year is not the boundary either. The year pillar turns at 立春.

  • It is not only Goats

Anyone with 未 in any pillar meets the year's 未. Believing the Goat year punishes Goats is simply wrong.

  • Tai Sui sold as a threat

太岁 is a rank, not a threat: the classics say it is not necessarily harmful, and the course prescribes no ritual, colour or object.

  • A year without its decade

The year never lands on your chart directly. It lands on your chart as it stands inside your current luck pillar.

Your Instructor

Hi, I'm Sean.

A Singapore-based astrologer and Chinese-metaphysics consultant with more than fifteen years of practice and thousands of clients served — the same standard here as in private consultation, with every claim checked against the chart.

This course deliberately teaches only what you need to read one year well. The gaps are intentional, the sources are named, and the fear that usually comes with a year like this one is left at the door.

“A year is a visitor. It arrives with its own character, it stays for twelve months, and what it does depends entirely on the house it walks into.”

The Way

This Course Against the Yearly Forecast

義 · How this course reads 2027

  • 太岁 as a rank, not a threat, with the classical sources quoted.
  • A reading you build, month by month, and keep.

忌 · The yearly forecast

  • One paragraph for a hundred million people, sorted by animal.
  • "Year of the Goat" scares, and the rituals sold alongside them.
  • January resolutions for a year that has not begun.
  • A list of traits with the reasoning left out.
  • The same forecast again next year, and the year after.
  • 10,000+professional readings

Have questions?

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Do I need to know BaZi already?

No. The course is built for someone reading a year for the first time, and it deliberately teaches only what you need to read one year well. Module 2 gives you the vocabulary — the stems, the branches, the Ten Gods — and every term is introduced in English with the Chinese beside it.

If you have taken the BaZi Masterclass you will move faster through the early lessons, but you do not need it to complete this course.

  • When does the 丁未 year begin, and when does it end?

It begins at 立春 on 4 February 2027 at 09:46 Beijing time, and ends at the next 立春, on 4 February 2028. Chinese New Year — 6 February 2027 — is not the boundary, and neither is 1 January.

So your 丁未 year includes January 2028 and does not include January 2027. In the Americas it begins on the evening of 3 February, local time.

  • I was born in a Goat year. Is 2027 dangerous for me?

No. A 本命年 — meeting the year's own branch — is a real structural pattern, and it calls for a reading, not a purchase. 未 is not one of the four self-punishing branches the classics list (辰, 午, 酉 and 亥), and two 未 branches meeting is neither a punishment nor a harm.

What matters is whether 未 is favourable to your chart, which is a question about your eight characters, not your birth year.

  • What is Tai Sui, really?

The classics call it 「太岁如君也,大运如臣也」 — Tai Sui is like the ruler, the luck pillar like the minister — and they say plainly that it is not necessarily harmful: 「太岁乃众煞之主,人命未必为凶」. If Tai Sui is your favourable element there is no fault, and instead there is gain.

It is a rank, not a threat, and it prescribes no ritual, colour, object or ceremony.

  • I do not know my exact birth time. Can I still take the course?

Yes. You can still take this course, and the lessons say what changes and what does not when the hour pillar is missing. You will need your birth date and place, and a chart to write on — the course tells you where to get one.

  • How long does it take, and how is it delivered?

Online and self-paced, on this academy, in any browser on your phone, tablet or computer — no app to install. At one lesson a day it comes to about six weeks, and you can go faster or slower: the lessons stay where they are, and you keep them.

  • Will I have lifetime access?

Yes — lifetime access to the whole course. In the extremely unlikely event that the school has to close, you will be told well in advance.
